This breeding is the culmination of 20 years of careful decision making.  The decision to acquire Misti’s delightful mother, Lacy from our dear friend, Leslie Dickerson at Farm Fresh was one of great investigation. We were ultimately impressed by the long term success & versatility of this line…..“where Goldens have a last name….retriever”.  When we decided to “go out” and find quality stock to add to the current endeavors, the criteria included complimentary traits with unique qualities to offer.

So, we were graced with the petit yet bold, and ever so serious, blonde bombshell “Lacy”.  At first, Lacy looked and acted so different from our James kids thru “Suds” (Ch. Forever Killians Irish Red), I wasn’t sure what to think.  Suds and her kids were always “fluffy & mushy” & fun loving.  Lacy was a bit more serious with a VERY different, yet “correct” water repellent golden coat.

It wasn’t long before Lacy stole the hearts of all.  I came to appreciate her differences. After all, isn’t that what I went looking for? Upon her first shows and first breeding(s) it was clear what Lacy had to offer….and we never looked back.  Lacy was a very “prepotent” brood bitch, reproducing herself in all her positive traits consistently, and yet melding them proficiently by picking up her mate’s best qualities as well.  Lacy was bred four times to my boys:  Hocus, Ripple (2X) and Odin.  Her best were Rip’s kids;  Misti is the finest representation of Ripple’s joy and mushy sweetness; melded with Lacy’s hardiness and grace.  All their kids have that same “blonde bombshell” look & gracious temperament, regardless of gender.

With a certain seriousness about work, and a strong, short, compact body  Lacy & her girl, Misti, are very athletic.  Both are  downright puppy-like & “petit” in size which allows them to fit just about anywhere!  Misti & her mom have good practical senses.  When they get in the truck or car, they stay put and “ride it out”.  Unlike their endeavors counterparts, who hang tongue first & “fancy free”, out the window!  The former is of course, a bit safer!  Misti & Lacy both love their “box”, care for all pups meticulously, and get along with everyone.

Now for the boys! My favored boys! Misti’s Dad “Ripple” and “Connor” share a few common traits for which we are grateful!  In addition so their gorgeous heads & movement which made them both AKC champions; both have the fun loving and warm “wuzzy” nature of “Gramma Suds”.  Though each have a different overall look, Rip with a red coat and compact body. Connor, a big hefty blonde. But again, both share that joyous carefree “Golden” attitude as Gramma Suds.  To know “Suz-wuzzy” was to covet her in your heart from the first day on….’forever’….that’s our boys!

Connor’s Grampa “River”, is again from a completely different line/kennel and “style” of Golden than what we were used to historically here at Endeavors.  Though Grampa River was a breed champion, he was also a fabulous worker in the obedience ring; he added wonderful hardiness, strong bodies, great pigment and strong minds (much like Lacy did). River’s kids are natural “workers” with very strong retrieving drive.  So, if ya want a “ball dog” or a High In Trial dog, this is your kinda line!

Lastly, Connor’s Dad “Brighton” comes from yet another quite different, and most successful show line.  “Brighton” easily finished his championship; following in the footsteps of his own Mom & Dad!  Grampa “Hobo” is a top winning, National Specialty, Best in Show dog with more awards than I can list here!

Connor also has his share of accomplishments in the breed ring (or beauty contest) to compliment his easy going nature at home. He is a Best of Breed & Group Winner though still in search of that elusive Best In Show!  Had we focused attention on obedience, field or agility, I am certain Connor would excel at anything you ask of him.  He is so fun loving and willing to please.  But, after his endearing personality and big goofy smile, his strongest asset is his effortless movement, head type, and performance as a “Show Dog”.   He stands about 24” at the withers, and holds lean & powerful at 78lbs….not a small boy by any means.  He is heavy boned, and heavy headed…..yes! “bone head” may apply at times! He is ALL BOY!  Connor’s personality is that of the quintessential Golden…..  J

I chose to do this breeding for lots of reasons.  First, this pedigree has breadth and depth.  All sides of this pedigree are the result of long term, careful, planned, generational breeding.  Well established breeders with goals in Conformation, Field and Obedience have contributed to long lines of success.

But perhaps most important, is the hardiness all grandparents have shown.  All could be described as very “maintenance free” types.  No recurring or underlying veterinary issues such as skin or thyroid problems, ear issues etc…  All ez keepers without behavior issues such as chewing, digging or barking you hear about….and all lived happy, healthy lives. For more generations than can be counted, this stock are all  hip/eye clear (and more recently, elbow, heart clear).

Lastly, I wish to assure all, that though this is a “linebreeding” on Suds; this breeding is by no means and “inbreeding” of the sharing of “too much” common blood.  Both Misti and Connor carry an overwhelming number of the positive traits of Suds (she was perfect of course!) J

This is the culmination of exactly what planned breeding practices are meant to produce: a Golden of predictable nature, health & temperament; possessing positive qualities true to the breed.  Posessing all the characteristics of “success”.  Each of these fluffanutters represents the finest of the “herd” here at Golden Endeavors!
